On the evening of October 6, drones attacked the Tyumen Oil Refinery (a branch of the Moscow-based RI-INVEST company). At least two UAVs hit the enterprise, the distillation column and part of the water supply system were damaged.
Previously, the plant was called the Antipinsky Oil Refinery and it was the largest independent oil refinery in Russia, with a capacity of 7.5 million tons per year, RBC wrote. The plant belonged to the Novy Potok group of companies owned by businessman Dmitry Mazurov.
“But in 2018, the company had problems with its main creditor, Sberbank. The company was unable to repay one of the loans. The debt was estimated at $5 billion, of which $3.2 billion was owed to Sberbank. In July 2019, Mazurov was arrested on charges of especially large-scale fraud, and later sentenced to 10 years in a high-security penal colony. The former CEO of ANPZ Gennady Lisovichenko was hiding abroad. And in December 2019, the Antipinsky Oil Refinery was declared bankrupt and exposed for bidding. After that, it was acquired by RUSINVEST, which later changed its name to RI-INVEST, the newspaper wrote.
