Drones attacked an ammunition depot in the Toropetsky district of Tver region

On the night of September 18, in the Toropetsky district of the Tver region, drones attacked an ammunition depot, which, according to morning data, is still burning and detonating.

“In Toropets, Tver region, as a result of falling drones during the repulse of an attack by air defense forces, a fire started, all emergency services, including the heads of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in the Tver region went to the scene, work is underway to localize the fire,” Tver Region Governor Igor Rudenya said at night. Then the regional government reported that residents of the city and the district were being evacuated.

“In Toropets, Tver region, the process of extinguishing a fire at the crash site of the UAV debris is underway. The air defense forces continue to repel a massive drone attack in the sky above the city. To ensure the safety of residents, the Governor of the Tver region, Igor Rudenya, decided to partially evacuate the population from the territory where the air defense is operating and the fire is localized. The necessary measures are being carried out.  The situation is under control,” the government’s telegram channel reported.

As ASTRA previously wrote, there is a m/u 54169 in Toropets. There is also another military unit in — the former m/u 55443, now 11777. The local authorities did not recognize the attack on the military unit, stating only that the fire broke out after the wreckage of the downed UAV fell. Residents of the city and the district are being evacuated, but residents of the village of Tsikarevo, which, judging by the maps, is located directly opposite the burning warehouses, were cut off from evacuation — they can only escape through the lake. Some residents sailed away on their boats, the rest are waiting for evacuation from local authorities on the shore, residents of the ASTRA district reported.

Meanwhile, NASA satellite images recorded thermal signatures on almost the entire territory of the 107th Main Missile and Artillery Directorate arsenal in the Tver region.

According to the Ukrainian expert Tatarigami, the attacked warehouse contained, among other things, 122-mm rockets for Grads and 82-mm artillery mines.

The fact that an arsenal for storing missiles and other ammunition is being built in Toropets was reported in 2015 by Military Review, in 2018 by local media.

In addition to the 107 Main Missile and Artillery Directorate arsenal, there is a m/u 54169 nearby, military personnel were also evacuated from there tonight, relatives told ASTRA. Earlier, this part was attacked twice — in May and June, it was reported by ASTRA sources.

Judging by the footage, in Toropets, after the UAV attack on the ammunition depot the blast wave shattered the windows in the local emergency department and shops in Tverskoy.
