Residents of Adygea massively discuss the night attack on the “Khanskaya” military airfield in chat rooms. In particular, audio is being distributed by an unidentified person who says: “Drones attacked a military airfield, there is a real war going on there, in Rodnikovka at the airfield.”
The Khanskaya military airfield is located 3 km east of the village of Khanskaya, 6 km northwest of the city of Maykop. According to open data, the 272nd training aviation Polotsk of the Orders of Suvorov and Kutuzov aviation base of the 2nd category of the Krasnodar Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots named after Hero of the Soviet Union A.K. Serov is stationed there.
Rodnikovy is a village located next to the village of Khanskaya and literally adjacent to a military airfield.
The head of Adygea commented on the situation:
“Last night, the suburb of Maykop was attacked by enemy drones. There were no casualties. Representatives of the special services and rescuers are on site. The fire is being eliminated by firefighters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. There is an organized evacuation of residents of the village. A temporary accommodation point for citizens has been deployed in the Khanskaya station. People will be provided with everything they need. I coordinate the work of all services and departments on the spot.”
Later, he reported on the stabilization of the situation in the suburbs of Maykop after the attack:
“At the moment, all residents of the village of Rodnikovo are safe. Everyone was evacuated in an orderly manner to a temporary accommodation facility. Now about 30 people remain there, the rest have gone to their relatives. Everyone is provided with hot meals and necessary care. All citizens were examined by health workers. Special attention is paid to the elderly. Three pensioners were placed in the geriatric department of the hospital. Representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, the administration, social services, and volunteers are working on site. I continue to keep the situation under control. People will be able to return to their homes immediately after the completion of the work of the special services,” the head of the region said.
It is claimed that a fuel depot could be located at the site of the fire, which was recorded earlier by the NASA fire monitoring system.
According to another MT Anderson engineer, there could be fuel tanks for airplanes or a warehouse of bombs.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirmed the attack on the airfield.
“Last night, a fire attack was inflicted on the Khanskaya airfield in the Republic of Adygea of the Russian Federation. In particular, an ammunition depot located on the territory of a military facility was hit. In the area of the target, the work of enemy air defense was noted, a fire was recorded. It is known that Su-34 and Su-27 aircraft were based at the airfield. More detailed information about the consequences of the defeat is being clarified. The task was completed by the forces and means of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the publication says.
