On the morning of February 24, the anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, a sheet shaped as a pocket containing nine wax candles and a note was found in the women’s bathroom of gymnasium No.14 in Severodvinsk.
“It has been exactly three years since Russia invaded the territory of Ukraine. During this time, a huge number of people died on both sides and died for nothing. I urge those who are reading this now to honor the memory of those who died on the front line (on both sides) and political prisoners killed in prisons. Not for pathos, but simply because you can, come home, light a candle. I won’t be able to physically provide them to everyone, but it’s something. And this is the main thing, the main thing is not to give up and continue to fight for a peaceful Russia. After all, even such a small thing can help someone get through this difficult period. Remember, you are not alone,” the note said.
According to ASTRA, the gymnasium’s director, 51-year-old Elena Podolskaya, reported this to the police. The security forces seized a piece of paper, an envelope and candles, and also requested recordings from surveillance cameras. The person who left the note is now being checked for “discrediting” the Russian Armed Forces.
ASTRA contacted Podolskaya, but she did not answer the questions of the publication and hung up the phone.
