“There has been nowhere to live for three years”

Residents of house No. 39 on Zelinsky Street in Russian-occupied Mariupol appealed to Vladimir Putin. They complained that their house has been undergoing renovation since November 2022, which led to the eviction of all residents.

“We are being kicked out onto the street. No repairs are being done in the apartments, the “lips” of the house have been painted — it is perfect from the outside, but inside is a disaster. Young children, pensioners, and the disabled have been living in rented housing and dormitories for three years. Pay attention — people want to go home!” said one of the residents of the house.

In January, residents of Mariupol who were left homeless as a result of the fighting appealed to Putin with posters “STRAYS”. The homeless residents of Mariupol congratulated Putin and “appealed for justice on this day.” Their damaged houses were demolished without the consent of the residents and promised new housing. Now, housing is being built on the site of the pits with a mortgage, which “with our incomes we are not able to pay.”

Earlier, ASTRA said how a large-scale mortgage construction project in a war-ravaged city left tens of thousands of people homeless: the occupation authorities took apartments from residents of the city, and gave expensive land in the historical center to Russian developers for mortgage housing.
