In an open appeal addressed to Putin, the Government and the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, residents of Mariupol said that due to the introduction of a regional law that allows the occupation “authorities” to solve problems on their own, residents were left without “housing, land, work and pensions.”
According to them, instead of 650 demolished residential buildings, only 76 compensation buildings were built in the city. About 20 thousand families still have not received housing promised by the authorities, 7 thousand more families cannot join this queue at all. Instead of building compensatory housing, people want to be settled in so-called orphan apartments belonging to the residents who left. At the same time, the refugee owners of the property are not allowed back home from the territory of the EU.
“By closing the entrance to Sheremetyevo for residents of the Donetsk region and declaring them dead, the housing of these people was transferred to municipal ownership and they are trying to give it to the residents of Mariupol as “ownerless,” the appeal says.
Residents of Mariupol also complained about inflated prices for food, medicines, high tariffs for utilities and telephone service. At the same time, salaries in the region amount to 15-30 thousand rubles. There are no children’s hospitals in the city, so children are taken to neighboring cities for treatment. In addition, there are not enough doctors in the city.
“There have never been problems with water in Mariupol, but now the authorities have introduced a strict schedule for supplying water to residents with blackouts,” the applicants add. Earlier, ASTRA wrote that Mariupol residents wash cold water, sitting without light and gas.
“You have entrusted the management of the Donetsk Republic to scammers and thieves. We have endured for a long time and called out to you for help, but you did not hear us, so we demand that you stop the lawlessness. It will end sooner or later, and no one will restore our violated rights, many will not even live to see this time,” the residents said in the appeal.
