Not only people, but also animals suffer from the consequences of the Ukrainian strikes on the refinery in Tuapse

After the attacks of 16 and April 20th dogs and cats with fuel oil stains began to appear in the city and the surrounding area due to a fire at an oil refinery. Concerned residents have set up eight animal washing stations in the nearby village of Shepsi.

At the same time, the volunteers write that the existing showers for animals are not enough and new facilities are needed. The organization is also asking for help – transportation, towels, and the participation of volunteers in rescuing animals that cannot get rid of petroleum products on their own.

Recommendations for pet owners are published: do not use gasoline and solvents for washing, do not allow hair to be licked, clean only with gloves, and protect animals from cold and drafts.

In addition, it is noted that birds were also injured: fuel oil poses a mortal danger to them. Residents who wish to help them are advised to first seal the beaks of the birds found so that they do not swallow the poisonous substance, and only then clean their feathers with potato starch or cleaning agents.

On April 23, the operational center of the Krasnodar Territory reported on the reduction of the fire area at the Tuapse refinery, first by two and then by four times. But judging by the messages and comments in the city’s public pages, the situation in the city remains tense. Residents complain (https://t.me/astrapress/110541 ?single) on the smoke from the ongoing fires at the refinery, widespread oil droplets, especially noticeable on light things, black spots on beaches and an oily film in the waters of Tuapse.
