Oil refinery attacked in Ryazan


On the night of May 15, residents of Ryazan reported a large number of explosions.

An OSINT analyst at ASTRA found that in addition to two high-rise buildings, the refinery in the city was damaged. The photos taken by eyewitnesses were taken from the Olympic Town microdistrict, about 4 km from the RNPZ.

The number of victims increased to 28 after the Ukrainian attack in Ryazan, four people died.

“Currently, we have 28 injured and 4 dead. 7 patients were hospitalized, including four children. <…> Nothing threatens the life and health of children. <…> One victim is in the regional clinical hospital, there is a fracture of the cervical spine. <…> The rest of the injured were treated on an outpatient basis. They were released home,” Alexander Pshennikov, head of the Ministry of Health of the Ryazan Region, said at a press conference.

Earlier, ASTRA found that an oil refinery and two high-rise buildings were damaged as a result of the attack. The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under the article “terrorist act”.

Ryazan Oil Refinery (RNPZ) is a part of PJSC Rosneft. It is one of the largest oil refining enterprises in Russia, with a capacity of about 17 million tons of oil per year. Ryazan Oil Refinery produces automobile gasoline of all brands, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, fuel oil, liquefied gases, bitumen and petrochemical raw materials.
