On the afternoon of July 6, eyewitnesses reported a strike on the Omsk refinery. The footage recorded a fire at an industrial enterprise. As the OSINT analyst of ASTRA has established, the Omsk Oil Refinery (ONPZ) was hit. The governor of the Omsk region, Vitaly Khotsenko, confirmed the drone attack and hits, but without mentioning the refinery.
“The air defense forces of the Russian Defense Ministry continue to repel the enemy’s attack. Several drones managed to reach the northern industrial hub of Omsk. The operational services are taking the necessary measures to eliminate the consequences,” Khotsenko said.
Half an hour earlier, he had stated without specifics about the destruction of UAVs over the Omsk region by the air defense forces of the Russian Ministry of Defense. An hour and a half before the first report of the attack, Khotsenko reported on the unmanned danger with reference to the military.
According to Dnipro Osint, the strike was carried out by new UAVs: “The upgraded FP-1 unmanned aerial vehicles hit the ELOU-AVT-11 installation of the Omsk Oil Refinery, located more than 2,500 km from the border. Hits into the technological columns of the installation were recorded.”
ONPZ belongs to Gazprom Neft. As a result of the modernization of the enterprise, which was completed in 2025, the plant provides up to 100% of the oil refining depth. In 2024, the plant produced more than 50 types of products, 100% of the fuel meets the Euro-5 standard. The company employs more than 3.3 thousand employees, according to the company’s website. It is one of the ten largest Russian refineries and is located 2,500 km from the Ukrainian border. According to some estimates, ONPZ accounts for 10% of the refining of all Russian oil.
