ASTRA managed to find out about at least 2 more cases of “abnormal descent” of Russian aerial bombs on Russian and occupied territories in 2026. One of them fell on the territory of a boarding school in the occupied Donetsk city, 20 meters from the building. At that moment, the children were on distance learning, evacuation was not required, there were no casualties.
According to ASTRA sources, another Russian aerial bomb fell near the village of Sokolovka in the Belgorod region.
Thus, according to ASTRA, in 2026, the Russian Federation and the occupied Ukrainian regions have already fallen at least 29 Russian FAB. As ASTRA previously found out, there were at least 143 aerial bombs in 2025 dropped by Russia and occupied territories. In 2024, at least 165 Russian FAB bombs fell on there.
In total, during the full-scale war, the Russian Air Force dropped at least 337 aerial bombs. Most of them fell on the Belgorod region, the authorities are hiding this.
As previously told by ASTRA, to counter the Ukrainian air defense, the Russian army began equipping Soviet FAB bombs with UMPK complexes. After such an update, wings and satellite guidance appear on the FABs, allowing them to launch bombs directly from the territory of the Russian Federation. But due to the imperfection of the system, aerial bombs do not always reach their targets and fall on Russian territories. The Russian authorities are trying to hide such facts, and when civilians are among the victims of the fall of Russian bombs, they report that the reasons are in the attacks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
In January 2026, the Fighterbomber Z-channel, which is close to the Russian Aerospace Forces, recognized that Russian aerial bombs regularly fall within Belgorod. He also expressed his assumptions about why this is happening.
