Vladimir Grachev, 28, a participant in the Russian military aggression against Ukraine, killed his childhood friend, the mother of the child he had baptized, after several weeks on leave at home in Novocheboksarsk (Chuvashia). The brother of the murdered 29-year-old Ksenia Chulaikina told ASTRA about this.
“We’ve all been in touch for many years. On Friday (September 25 — editor’s note), he called Ksenia under the pretext of helping him find the lost documents. He’s her son’s godfather. She disappeared after lunch. The last message from her was at 3:47 p.m. When she stopped responding, we started looking for her and found her on Saturday in the abandoned building. On Monday there was an autopsy. We buried her today. They called me and told me without any details that he had been found and detained on Tuesday (September 29). Then the military takes care of everything,” he said.
It is not known what happened between the victim and Grachev, but he has been in the war for three years, and the victim’s face was disfigured, her brother said:
“He was a different person before. He came on vacation, gave gifts to my nephew, that is, his godson, and gave flowers to my sister. He said that he had transferred to the UAV squad, that he was serving in military unit 17640. As far as I know, he was supposed to return to duty on October 3. I saw the condition of the body… I talked to the pathologist. They were buried in an open coffin. But even after the funeral services, everything was visible. He beat her in the face, and then strangled her (the death certificate states that death occurred on September 25 from suffocation, the deceased had cerebral edema — ed. note)…”
In the photos on social networks, Grachev poses in a military uniform. His place of work is the Ministry of Defense.
“Everyone is silent about what happened here. The state is fully committed to protecting its peers. They try to hush it up as much as possible. As a father of two girls, I see all this, we are not living in safety. There is no protection. The police can’t do anything, they couldn’t even find him. And we found the sister ourselves, because they couldn’t even give us a dog handler to catch him…”, said the brother of the murdered woman, adding that she had a minor child.
Another relative of Ksenia told ASTRA that after the murder, he communicated with Grachev’s relatives, who apologized. He clarified that the military had drug problems even before entering the war. At the same time, he communicated with Grachev after he committed the murder.
“I knew she went to meet him. I was able to reach him when she disappeared. He said he talked to her for 15 minutes and she left. The next day we found the body. He stopped answering the phone. He was not found on surveillance cameras in nearby stores. We met with his sister. She began to apologize. She said that Grachev called her and claimed that he did not remember anything because he was smoking something.: “I couldn’t do it, I loved her,” said the second relative of the murdered woman. — Then he was found on surveillance cameras. He was looking at himself in the mirror in the elevator. There was no regret on his face. As for his father, he told me that he was sitting in a dugout somewhere on the second line, doing paperwork, and not going to war.”
Photos with runes are visible in Grachev’s photos on social networks. Relatives of the murdered woman say that he was fond of tattoos at one time, but they do not know about his interest in paganism or neo-Nazism.
It is known from open sources that military unit 17640 is the 638th separate pipeline battalion, which is permanently based in Samara, and in Ukraine it provides participants in the military aggression of the Russian Federation with fuel and lubricants.
ASTRA failed to contact Grachev’s relatives. They don’t answer the phone. All their available social media accounts are blocked.
