Daniil Veremeychik, 19, is from Saratov. He did not want to serve in the army, but on May 19 he was conscripted, and on August 21 he was sent to military unit No. 54708 in Boguchar. The commanders began to persuade the young man to sign a contract, they promised him to serve at the headquarters, study at the FSB academy, and that the contract would be terminated in a year. Daniel told his relatives about this, but they replied that he was being deceived and could not sign a contract.
“He was deliberately provided with false information, promising to serve in the headquarters, graduate from the FSB Academy with nine grades of education, that the contract was strictly for one year, that it could be terminated within three months if he changed his mind. At the same time, no second copy of the contract was issued. The contract was signed immediately after his discharge from the hospital, where Daniel was being treated for chicken pox,” Natalia, the conscript’s grandmother, tells ASTRA.
According to her, before the draft, she told her grandson that he should serve in the army, it was his duty. But when Daniel signed the contract on August 18, on August 19, the family came to Boguchar in order to meet with the young man and the command, and demand that the contract be terminated. By that time, Veremeychik had signed the relevant report.
During the visit to the unit, they managed to communicate only with the deputy political officer, who refused to show his documents, and then meet with Veremeychik’s relatives — his mother Oksana lived near the military unit for 12 days and was unable to talk to any of the officers. In the end, the deputy political officer on the phone suggested that she complain to the prosecutor’s office.
After August 29, the relatives never reached Daniel again — he stopped responding, he only writes messages. “Oksana”s mother and Natalia”s grandmother wrote complaints about the deception to the military prosecutor’s office, the Investigative Committee, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Russian Federation, Yana Lantratova, the Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, the head of the Fair Russia party, Sergei Mironov, and deputy Vladimir Kuznetsov. Relatives “beg to understand the situation and verify the legality of the contract.” So far, it has not yielded any result.
“I told him, “While your grandma is alive, of course you will go, it’s your duty,” but he didn’t want to join the army until the last moment. At the moment, I regret it — if I had known what it was like…” says Natalia, the conscript’s grandmother.
On September 21, Veremeychik was sent to the Pogonovo training ground near Voronezh, before that he was on duty almost every day. The day before he was sent to the training ground, the young man was forced to write an explanatory note addressed to the commander of the unit (the name is at the disposal of the editorial office, but relatives refuse to publish it) — the reason for this was complaints from relatives about the military unit.
“At any moment, Daniel can be sent to a war zone, and we do not know how to do this, who to turn to for help in order to suspend any activities related to Daniel’s departure from the territory of the unit for the period of checking our situation and until a final decision is made on it,” they write. Veremeychik’s relatives are in the complaints.
