Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine has used its own tactical ballistic missile, the FP‑7, in combat for the first time, and published a video of the launch from a ground‑based launcher.
“Ukrainian tactical ballistics. FP‑7. First combat use. Thank you for the result. Next is production,” he wrote. Zelenskyy did not specify when, where, or against which target the missile was fired.
The FP-7 was developed by the Ukrainian company Fire Point, which also produces the Flamingo cruise missiles. According to the company, the range of the FP-7 is about 200 kilometers, the warhead weighs 150 kilograms, and the maximum speed is about 1.5 kilometers per second. Fire Point co‑founder Denis Shtilerman described it in the spring as an analogue of the American ATACMS, which costs half as much.
The company is also developing a longer‑range missile, the FP‑9, which, according to CEO Iryna Terekh, will be able to reach Moscow. Fire Point planned to use it at the end of autumn.
