According to ASTRA, a missile attack targeted the air defense unit of the Southern Military District of the Russian Ministry of Defense in the village of Donskoye in the annexed Crimea early this morning. As a result of the attack, a fire broke out on the military base, which took more than one and a half hours to extinguish. The Russian Ministry of Defense personnel were injured, but the exact number of casualties is unknown.
The 31st Air Defense Division of the Russian Ministry of Defense’s military facilities in the Chernomorsk and Saki districts were also subjected to missile attacks. In the Chernomorsk district, four military personnel of the Russian Ministry of Defense were injured, according to sources from ASTRA in the peninsula’s Ministry of Emergency Situations.
As ASTRA previously reported, on the night of April 30, ballistic missiles (presumably MGM-140 ATACMS) also targeted the Djankoy military airfield — the location of the 4th Command Helicopter Regiment of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Southern Military District. As a result of the attack, 5 military personnel were injured.
“The head” of the annexed region, Aksenov, commented on the attack for the first time at noon on April 30:
“Attention residents and guests of the peninsula! Simferopol district (surrounding the village of Donskoye). After the ATACMS missile strikes, unexploded submunitions scattered. When encountering unexploded ordnance, do not touch it, do not approach it, and call the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Internal Affairs,”
He did not comment on the attacks on the three air defense unit locations and the military airfield.
