“We want peace and light. Go home”

On the night of March 11th Ukraine committed the most massive drone attack on the Russian Federation since the beginning of the Russian invasion, using more than 340 drones. In the morning, in a quarry in the village of Ignatovo, 3.5 km from military unit 64178, security found debris from one of the fallen UAVs, and two notes next to it.

One is from Sasha from Odessa, the second is from Anna Selidova, a resident of Donetsk. ASTRA publishes their text in full:

“My name is Sasha, I am an Odessan myself. I used to speak Russian and considered Russians to be our brothers. But not now, since they have started destroying my native Odessa with their bombs and rockets. I understand perfectly well that Russians brought culture to Odessa, but Odessans are an independent people. We have our own identity and our own rules, and we will no longer tolerate Russians on our land. I don’t want to hear this language anymore, I want everyone who brought the war here to leave forever. Now I speak only Ukrainian, because this is my real homeland. I hate what they did to us, and I don’t want to see them anymore. I want Ukraine to be free and peaceful, without this war and destruction. And so that my beloved Odessa would not suffer from those whom we used to call “brothers.
” P.S. This is my last word in Russian. Thank you for that. Glory to Ukraine!”, — the letter of the inhabitant of Odessa.

“My name is Anna, I am 73 years old, I am from Selidovo, Donetsk region. I’ve lived here all my life, in a house that I built with my own hands. Every tree in the garden was planted by me, every corner of my house is warmed by memories. And now you’re sitting there like it belongs to you. Only it’s not yours. What are you doing in someone else’s house? Do you have little land or houses in Russia? You came here, destroyed our city, and now you call yourself “liberators”. But from what? We lived our lives, raised our children, and built a future. And you have brought only grief and ruins. You eat at my table, you sleep in my bed. Aren’t you ashamed? Do you think this house will be yours? No. You are temporary. We will stay because this is our land, our Ukraine. On New Year’s Eve, I remember how the whole family used to gather at the table, decorate the Christmas tree, and share their joy. I’m sure you have such traditions at home too — you light candles, watch your children smile. So why did you deprive us of this? Aren’t we the same as you? Is our happiness any worse than yours? I am far from home now, and I know that I will return to the ruins. But we will rebuild our houses, sow our fields, decorate our streets for the holidays. Because we love this land. We want peace and light. Go home. Take away the tanks, leave our land. In the new year, think not about hate, but about what unites people. Because the love of home and family is something that can never be taken away,” the second letter said.
