Lina Povazhnaya, a resident of the Belgorod village of Novoe near the border in the Tishansky rural settlement, complained that local authorities do not take care of citizens, but use them only to compile statistics on how many were injured and how many died. At the same time, an emergency regime has not been introduced in the village, although officials or services are prohibited from coming to the village due to regular shelling, the woman claims.

“To date, there are no communications in the village, there is no water in the village, <…> But, nevertheless, they actively continue to tell us that we are in a safe area. If you take a look at the map, you will see that we are close to the border. Almost almost at the border. <…> But we are not entitled to payments and compensations, because we are not human beings. But I draw my own conclusion from what I see,” says the woman in the video.
She claims that the local authorities have stated that the villagers are not entitled to compensation, as there is no “active shelling.” However, when citizens ask why there is no gas and water in the village, they are told: “due to the operational situation.”
“That is, we, as consumables, should be there. And be shelled. Nothing for us. We’re supposed to. And our motto is: The rescue of drowning people is the work of drowning people themselves. Or let’s figure it out, if everything is great and well with us, then set up all communications, water, communications, light, gas. For some reason, the gas is repaired only by local forces. Not to mention the professional trips of Gazprom or the gas companies that are supposed to do this. Because at the official level it is forbidden to go there, the situation does not allow it. Have you noticed that there are a lot of different moments when someone can go there, but someone can’t? That is, it is possible only for local residents, they can be beaten. And according to these statistics, how many of them will die there, we will decide whether the situation there is good or not,” the woman concludes.
