Bomb fell from a Russian plane right in front of resident’s car in the Belgorod region

ASTRA found out, on April 8, FAB bomb “abnormally descended” from a Russian plane (the exact mass is unknown) in the Yakovlevsky municipal district of the Belgorod region. The aerial bomb fell on the highway (Tomarovka-Rakitnoye section) at the moment when two civilian cars were moving along it.

FAB fell right in front of the car of 36-year-old local resident Rasuljon (pictured). The bomb did not explode, a crater formed in the road. Rasuljon received multiple shrapnel wounds and was hospitalized, ASTRA sources in the medical services of the region reported. Rasuljon’s acquaintances also confirmed the fact of the man’s injury. He himself did not respond to calls from the journalist of the publication. His car is damaged.

Witnesses told ASTRA that emergency services had forbidden local residents to photograph the scene and post any information on social media in order “not to destabilize the situation”.

The local authorities did not report anything about the fall of a Russian aerial bomb, which injured a civilian.

The Yakovlevsky district administration warned local residents about the closure of the road immediately after the fall of the aerial bomb in connection with “works”: “due to the work on the Tomarovka-Rakitnoye road section, traffic is temporarily blocked. The section of the Tomarovka – Krasnaya Yaruga highway from the lower ring of the village of Tomarovka to the turnoff to the village of Butovo has been blocked. We ask you to use alternative detours from Rakitnoye through Butovo, from Tomarovka through Kazatskoye and follow the instructions of traffic police officers on these sections of the road.” Later, the administration officially announced the opening of traffic on the road section.

Thus, the editorial board of ASTRA became aware of at least 50 aerial bombs (44 FABs and 6 UMPB) and three missiles, fallen from Russian aircraft in Russia and in the territories of Ukraine controlled by Russia since the beginning of 2025. In 2024, 165 FAB bombs fell on these territories.

As told by ASTRA, to counter the Ukrainian air defense, the Russian army began equipping Soviet FAB bombs with UMPK complexes. After such an update, wings and satellite guidance are installed on the FABs, allowing them to launch bombs directly from the territory of Russia. But due to the imperfection of the system, aerial bombs do not always reach their targets and fall on Russian territories. The Russian authorities are trying to hide such facts.

So, on May 4, 2024, a Russian plane dropped a FAB-500 on Belgorod. As a result, 7 people were injured, 31 households and 10 cars were damaged. The authorities hid the reason for the bomb’s fall, as well as the fact that it was Russian. On November 19 last year, a Russian plane dropped a 250-kilogram aerial bomb on a school in the Belgorod region. The local authorities also decided to hide this fact.
