Anastasia Goisan, a choreographer and psychologist from Moscow, was released from a pre-trial detention center in Makhachkala after going on a hunger strike to protest her criminal prosecution. This was reported to ASTRA by a human rights activist who requested anonymity and attended the court session.

“Here’s how it turns out: she is being pursued by her Avarian common-law husband. I am also an Avar, but I defend the rights of a Russian girl and I will defend her. Because he doesn’t act like a man at all. This persecution is cynical and contrived from beginning to end,” the human rights activist told ASTRA.
Goisan was arrested in September 2024 on charges of embezzlement allegedly committed in Dagestan. However, she claims that she had never even been there before her detention, and believes that the case against her was fabricated by her former partner, the chief tax inspector of the Federal Tax Service, Muslim Ibragimov.
According to investigators, Goisan allegedly borrowed 12 million rubles from his cousin Osman Aliyev, and also embezzled 16 million rubles. from the sale of the apartment. However, Aliev allegedly cannot remember the date of the transfer of the money, citing memory problems after the coronavirus, which makes it impossible for Goisan to provide an alibi.
In her statement about the start of the hunger strike, Goisan indicated that during the 9 months of the investigation, she was not informed of the exact date when she allegedly was in Makhachkala and received money from the victim. She also placed responsibility for her health and life on the investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan and the Prosecutor’s Office of the republic, noting that she had no other methods left to combat lawlessness.
After the start of the hunger strike, the court in Makhachkala changed the measure of restraint for Goisan, releasing her from custody.
Goisan and Ibragimov met in 2017 and soon started living together. Trying to hide his income and property from the inspectors, he asked Goisan to register houses and apartments for her. She claims that she gave away all the money after each sale and never claimed it. At the same time, Goisan claims, when they finally broke up in 2023, he offered her to take half of the money from the sale of the apartment.
After a few months, he began to harass her and demanded to resume the relationship. Then Goisan contacted the police. The conversation with the police only angered Ibragimov even more. He called Goisan and yelled at her, threatening: “Wait for March!”.
On September 16, 2024, unknown people began to break into the girl’s apartment. They abducted her and that night they took her to Makhachkala, to the office of the Investigative Committee for Dagestan, and then sent her to a pre-trial detention center.
There she was informed that on July 7, 2024, a criminal case was opened against her under the article on embezzlement and embezzlement of funds.
According to Goisan, Ibragimov visited her in jail and threatened her and her lawyer.
On November 20, the Kirov District Court of Makhachkala ruled that Goisan’s wanted list and the decision to institute criminal proceedings against her were illegal.
On January 23, 2025, the Supreme Court of Dagestan overturned this decision. On February 9, at a meeting in the Kirovsky district court, her measure of restraint was changed and she was released. However, on February 21, the Supreme Court of the Republic decided to remand Goisan in custody. On April 10, after the start of the hunger strike, this decision was reconsidered.
Goisan’s lawyer, Eduard Marcinkevich, stated that the investigation is also trying to accuse his client of treason only because she was born in Ukraine, despite having Russian citizenship. He stressed that the defense insists on transferring the case to the federal level for an objective investigation, excluding the influence of local connections and corruption.
State Duma deputy Saigidpasha Umakhanov earlier addressed to the head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, with a request to sort out the situation with the persecution of Goisan.
