At least 217 Russian conscripts might have died during war with Ukraine

ASTRA was provided with a detailed version of the list of Russian conscripts killed during the war with Ukraine. The list was prepared by the “Hochu naiti” (I want to find) project and includes 218 names, 22 of which ASTRA managed to confirm.

Many names are included in the lists of dead local “Combat Brotherhoods.” For example, Semyon Abakumov, a 21-year-old resident of Vologda, died in the Kursk region. On VKontakte, on the page of the Kharovsky regional branch of the Combat Brotherhood, there is an obituary dedicated to the young man. There are even comments by his relative Nina Abakumova further confirming his identity.

In a similar way, it was possible to confirm the death of Roman Akimov listed on the list, although he was not exactly on the list as a conscript: by the time of his death, the young man had already signed a contract — this story was written with details back in April 2022 by “Siberia.Realities”, who even managed to talk to the parents of the deceased soldier.

The death of another conscript, Dmitry Bagrov, also turned out to be real. His father, journalist Dmitry Bagrov Sr. wrote about it on his Vkontakte page

The editors of ASTRA did not have time to check the entire list, but a random check indicates that the table provided by the I Want to Find project looks reliable. Most of the verified defendants died during the fighting in the territories bordering Ukraine — in the Kursk and Belgorod regions.

“Hochu naiti” is a Ukrainian government project to provide information about prisoners of war, missing and dead soldiers of the Russian army in Ukraine.
