This morning the Russian Defense Ministry reported about the downing of 8 UAVs over the Nizhny Novgorod region on the night of April 29.

“At night, over the territories of two districts of the Nizhny Novgorod region, air defense forces repelled an attack by UAVs. According to preliminary data, no consequences have been recorded,” the governor stated.
As ASTRA found out, drones attacked the Savasleika airbase (military unit 83122) in the Kulebaki urban district in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, as well as the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Sverdlov Plant, a city-forming enterprise in Dzerzhinsk, part of the Russian military industrial complex. This was reported by ASTRA sources in the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine and in the rescue services of Russia. Previously, the military airfield was attacked by at least 8 UAVs, 7 of them were shot down, and the factory was attacked by 2 drones. The consequences are unknown, the plant’s employees were evacuated during the attack.
Savasleika is an airbase in the Nizhny Novgorod region, where a branch of the 4th State Center for Aviation Personnel Training and Military Tests of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (formerly the 4th Center for Combat Use and Retraining of Flight Personnel of the Russian Air Force) is stationed. The previous time, the airbase was attacked in August 2024. Russian planes regularly attack Ukraine from Savasleika.
The Sverdlov plant in Dzerzhinsk produces explosives. The plant is included in the sanctions list of Ukraine “for supporting actions that undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.” On June 23, 2023, the plant was included in the sanctions list of EU countries, and is also under sanctions from the United States, Great Britain, Japan and Switzerland. The previous time it was attacked was on April 9, 2025. Then ASTRA found out that as a result of the attack a pipeline overpass and 2 workshops were damaged.
