On the night of July 17, Ukrainian UAVs hit Shchekinoazot JSC. At least 4 UAVs hit the plant directly, a fire broke out, reported ASTRA sources in the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.
Employees of the plant told ASTRA that after the attack, one of the distillation columns was damaged, and a fire was depressurized. In addition, the high-pressure steam pipeline between the storage facility and the CHP was damaged. It supplies superheated high-pressure steam from a thermal power plant (CHP) to technological installations. The roof of the furnace on the methanol production line is also damaged.
The plant has stopped its work, and employees have been evacuated.
Earlier, ASTRA wrote that Shchekino residents reported a fire on the morning of July 17 after the UAV attack. The governor only said that the wreckage of the UAV fell on the territory of one of the enterprises in the Tula region.
According to the company’s website, Shchekinoazot is a leading manufacturer of industrial chemicals (methanol, caprolactam, mineral fertilizers, sulfuric acid). Shchekinoazot includes JSC Khimvolokno.
