As Alexey Rodin, 40, told ASTRA, on June 9, at about 6 a.m., security forces broke into his house in Sevastopol, laid the man on the floor and accused Rodin of allegedly writing an approving comment on Telegram about the shooting of police officers by militants in Dagestan on June 23, 2024.
“They broke in on July 9 at 6 a.m., put me on the floor, demanded a password from the phone, and confessionthat I had written a comment. I did not give the password to the phone, refused to tell my name, said that I had not written anything. The security forces were enraged by this, they began to wring my legs and arms, and then burn the thumb of my right foot with a lighter. They hit me in the face, they threw socks in my face,” says Rodin.
Rodin not leave any comment, the account from which the terrorist attack was allegedly justified is unknown to him, he said in a conversation with ASTRA. According to Rodin, the witnesses who arrived at the scene were most likely familiar with the security forces, as they smiled and communicated with them, filming Rodin on the phone.
After that, the man was taken to the police department for combating extremism. They held him there for another 4 hours, and then locked him in the cell. A day later, a court was held where the man was found guilty of disobeying the lawful demands of police officers, fining 3,000 rubles. During the meeting, there were no accusations of justifying terrorism or anything related to the reason for the detention.
Rodin suggests that he was detained because he had previously been sued in Sevastopol for “discrediting the army” after posts criticizing the government, as well as for “demonstrating Nazi symbols” (he published pagan runes, but not a swastika).
On July 17, Rodin left for Moscow, where he went to the hospital complaining of burns, a fractured coccyx and other consequences of the beating. The medical history of the injury in the Moscow hospital indicates that the coccyx was damaged due to the fact that the man allegedly “slipped.”
Rodin filed a complaint with the Investigative Committee against the actions of the security forces.
