OSINT analyst at ASTRA geolocated an eyewitness video posted on Volgograd channels and found that it was shot on Levchenko Street in the work settlement of Novonikolaevsky in the direction of 500kV Balashovskaya substation. It is located about a kilometer from the place where the video was shot by eyewitnesses.
On October 16, in the morning, the Governor of the Volgograd region, Andrei Bocharov, announced that “as a result of the fall of UAV debris in the Novonikolaevsky district, a fire was recorded at the Balashovskaya substation.”




The head of the Novonikolaevsky district, Sergey Paramonov, wrote in his telegram channel, that the power engineers are actively working to restore the power supply in the Novonikolaevsky district. According to him, at 9:30 a.m. Moscow time, “electricity supply was restored for 70 percent of residents of rural settlements of the Novonikolaevsky district and for 50 percent of residents of the district center of the village of Novonikolaevsky.”
Later, in an interview with reporters, Paramonov said, that the fire that arose “as a result of falling debris of Ukrainian drones” on the territory of a power transmission substation in the Novonikolaevsky district of the Volgograd region has been extinguished.
