“During the search, they opened the freezer and propped it up with a trash can so that the food would spoil”

Human rights defender Maxim Davydov, defending mobilized in Donetsk, returned home 5 days after his detention. On February 4, he was released from the courtroom, but was detained again by police officers.

“Yesterday I was released from the courtroom, and on the street I was caught by officers of OP No. 2 (police department No. 2) and dragged back to the department on the orders of Kudryavtseva Y.S. (investigator, editor’s note), judging by the fact that the search was attended by employees of the center. countering extremism, new falsifications and suspicions are on the way,” Davydov told ASTRA.

On February 10, the man was able to return home, where he saw the consequences of a search in his apartment. A computer and data storage media were seized, but the most outrage was caused by the fact that the security forces propped the refrigerator door with a bucket.

“They broke in wearing masks, body armor, unloading gear, and military uniforms. They put me face down on the floor in the gym and started stepping on my fingers and toes, and they injured a tendon in my right arm. They kicked him in the pelvis, back, and head, wringing his hands and jerking him up when they demanded to know the password to his phone and computer. Then they began to strangle and stick their fingers into the supraclavicular fossa. There was only psychological pressure in the police department. Look at the nits! During the search, they opened the freezer and propped it up with a trash can so that the food would spoil,” says Davydov.

According to the human rights defender, he was saved only by the publicity in the media. At the same time, none of the lawyers who were summoned helped Davydov.

“This is the work of the local FSB. Due to the fact that I work here in the interests of the illegally mobilized, I prove that the head of the “DNR” is illegal, that it is illegal for the “DNR” to join the Russian Federation, they no longer know what to do with me,” the human rights activist said.

The formal reason for Davydov’s detention was the USSR citizen’s passport, which he presented on October 8, 2025. The human rights defender says that Voroshilovsky district prosecutor Alexei Ivanov saw his documents and sent a report to the police department no.2. Also at the police station itself, district policeman Poklonsky said that the report came from the prosecutor’s office (the recording of the conversation between Poklonsky and Davydov is available to ASTRA).

Davydov complained to the prosecutor’s office, but the response received from the department stated that the Soviet passport was reported not to the prosecutor’s office, but to the police department No. 2. Subsequently, it was precisely because of this episode that a criminal case was opened against Davydov 327 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Forgery, manufacture or trafficking of forged documents, state awards, stamps, seals or letterheads), for which he was fined 30,000 rubles.

Earlier, Davydov was fined under Article 20.3 “Discrediting the Russian Army” for his comment in support of ASTRA.
