The ASTRA correspondent managed to contact Ilya Shkolny, a member of the Moscow committee of the Libertarian Party of Russia, the husband of a German citizen, who is currently in a temporary detention facility in Hof. The man said that he would be held in custody until April 26, during which time the German authorities should find a plane to deport the young man to Russia or extend the term.

“Now my lawyer and I are looking for an opportunity to stay in Germany for family reunification. I am in danger in Russia because of my political views,” Shkolny told ASTRA.
He had 5 minutes for a telephone conversation, during which time the man clarified that he had arrived in Germany at the invitation of his fiancee at that time, a citizen of Germany and Austria, Ansuela Baldemire, whom he met in 2018 in Russia. The girl clarified that the couple applied for marriage registration at the registry office back in 2022, but the paperwork took 2 years.
Now the lawyer has re-applied for asylum to the young man in order to postpone his deportation through the court.
