The Kursk garrison Court considered the cases of two deputy commanders of one of the military units stationed in the region.

The court found both lieutenant colonels guilty of abuse of office (Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and sentenced them to 6 and 5 years in prison, respectively. The officers were also stripped of their military ranks and awards.

It was established that Karamyshev (6 years in prison) and Otegenov (5 years) they took away the payments due to them from their subordinates. In total, they received more than 7 million rubles, which they disposed of at their discretion.

“It follows from the materials of the criminal cases: lieutenant colonels D.S. Otegenov and I.I. Karamyshev repeatedly organized the collection of funds from subordinate military personnel, which they received as a reward for successfully completing combat missions of a special military operation,” explains the press service of the courts of the Kursk region.

The editorial board of ASTRA found that, in all likelihood, we are talking about the 448th missile brigade named after S.P. Invincible (military unit 35535). Judging by the open data, Igor Karamyshev and Jamaldin Otegenov served there. In 2022, some of them participated in a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and in 2024-2025, they were noted in battles with the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region. The Ukrainian side also stated that the calculations of the 448th brigade were involved in the missile attack on Sumy on March 13, 2025, which killed 35 people and injured more than 120.

Back in 2022, Karamyshev was accused by the Ukrainian media in “conducting rocket and artillery attacks on the civilian population and infrastructure facilities.” Otegenov was mentioned in publications about the award in 2024: the head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov received a medal “For Services to the Fatherland” of the first degree.
