Two powerful explosions on the morning of May 30 in the area of the Desantnaya Bay in Primorsky region were organized by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine — “RBC-Ukraine” with reference to sources.
The publication indicates that the intelligence conducted a successful operation in the area of the 47th separate airborne assault battalion of the 155 Separate Guards Marine Brigade (military unit 30926). According to the sources of the publication, one explosion occurred near the checkpoint, the second — at the location of the personnel and command of the military unit. Manpower, military equipment, and special equipment were hit, according to media reports.
Earlier, the Anti-Terrorist Commission of Primorsky region claimed the cause of the explosion in the bay was a fire in one of the cars with propane-butane mixture cylinders.
As ASTRA pointed out, in the comments to this location on various websites, users write that the turn from the road to the bay is guarded by the military, and it is impossible to freely enter the territory. Last year, there were trainings of large amphibious ships of the Pacific Fleet. In February, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the crew of the large amphibious assault ship Oslyabya, together with the units of the Marine Corps unit, were training loading military equipment there. Civilian vessels are not allowed to enter the bay. This is not the first time that drills took place in this location. For example, in 2017, the Indra-2017 maneuvers were held there.
ASTRA managed to find a photo showing Russian and Indian military personnel preparing to load personnel and equipment aboard the large amphibious assault ship Admiral Nevelskoy in Desantnaya Bay. In the background, a platform is visible on the shore, presumably with antennas on an elevation. In satellite images, it resembles either a location for mobile launchers, a radar station, or underground fuel storage tanks. In addition, building nearby on the map that closely resembles a checkpoint with a barrier can be seen, which RBC-Ukraine mentions as the site of one of the explosions.
It is also written that the elevated site may be a fuel storage facility. The journalists of the publication also found out that there is a restricted area in Desantnaya Bay, created for the main warehouse of military unit 56076 by the current decree of the Governor of Primorsky Region from 2005. And from the data of SPARK-Interfax, it follows that this part existed from 1941 to 2004 and was registered in the bay. The Agency also indicates that in June 2012, a branch of military unit 96138 (formerly the 197th military depot of the Ministry of Defense) was registered with the tax service at the address of the bay. Later, the military unit was liquidated and joined the Association of the Strategic Command of the Eastern Military District.
